Research and Academic Writing
Writing is the most common form of communication in science and academia. Good academic writing communicates an idea clearly and effectively. In addition to writing, effective communication includes well-crafted presentations, videos, podcasts, and also social media postings. Better communication leads to several benefits: improved collaboration, easier access to knowledge, the ability to better share information with others. In this course, we will explore some of the principles and practices of effective communication, from the perspective of psychology and linguistics. In addition, we will review some key ideas behind finding and managing the motivation to communicate in the first place. We will strive to tailor the course to serve the current communication needs of the enrolled students.
