The class will be conducted in English. It will be co-taught by a clinical linguist and a psycholinguist.

Students first will be familiarized with the (psycho-)linguistic background, such as models of word and sentence production and the empirical findings from healthy speakers supporting these findings. The sessions focusing on psycholinguistics will alternate with sessions focusing on patholinguistics, showing how theoretical linguistic knowledge can be applied and extended in the area of neurorehabilitation of language, when assessing patients and describing the precise nature of their language deficits. The neuroscientific basis of normal and impaired language processing also are considered.

For the BN, students will have to contribute to the seminar content by either providing terminological information for a glossary or by giving a short presentation of a set text.

For the AP, students will have to write a thesis (Hausarbeit) on one of the topics discussed in the seminar.
