The Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be everywhere. It finds application in diverse fields like medicine, astronomy, biology, arts and music, finance, building computer-games and navigation systems, internet search, robotics and autonomous driving to mention just a few. It is also claimed to deeply enhance our understanding of the mind, radically change the nature of labour and the shape science, and to be one of the most serious menaces to the future of humanity.

In this course, we want to focus on the following questions:

What is artificial intelligence?

What does AI tell us about the nature of intelligence and our mind?

What are the limits of AI?

What impact does AI have on our lives, science, and the future of humanity?

This course will be an online-only event. A Moodle-page with all course materials and discussion-forums will be set up. Additionally, regular live-meetings via Webex are planned.
